Two men were arrested in connection to multiple vehicle and trailer theft incidents.
According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, they worked with the Athens Police Department to investigate a series of thefts involving stolen trucks and trailers across North Alabama.
Investigators developed 31-year-old Tommy Kaye Thompson III, of Tanner, and 45-year-old William Flint Childers, of Harvest, as key suspects in the case.
The investigation has resulted in the recovery of numerous stolen trucks and trailers.
Thompson was charged with five counts of theft, receiving stolen property in the first degree, and receiving stolen property in the second degree. Thompson's bond is set at $37,500.
Childers was charged with theft and receiving stolen property in the first degree. Childers' bond is set at $10,000, though there is no bond currently for a previous charge of attempted theft.
While both suspects have been taken into custody, the investigation remains ongoing, with additional charges expected.
"We are grateful for the tireless dedication of the Limestone County Sheriff's Office and the City of Athens Police Department investigators," said Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin. "Our teamwork and commitment to solving this case have led to significant progress in our region's fight against vehicle theft."
