Ponyboy is coming to North Alabama!
The star of the classic 1983 movie, "The Outsiders," met with WAAY 31 ahead of a special screening in Sheffield to talk about his experience making the film and the story's long-lasting impact across generations.
C. Thomas Howell also shared the importance of reading books and watching movies like "The Outsiders," especially during a time when people are consumed by short-form content and social media.
The movie is based on S.E. Hinton's 1967 coming-of-age novel, which focuses on the struggles of teens growing up within different classes in society. The story follows Ponyboy, portrayed by Howell, and other teens in a working-class gang as they clash with a gang of upper-class teens.
Howell will be at the Ritz Theatre in Sheffield on Saturday for the screening of the movie, which features live commentary as well as a Q&A session.
The event starts at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. You can purchase tickets in advance by clicking .
