FLORENCE, Ala. - Wilson Park in downtown Florence is set to host the Arts Alive Festival this weekend, marking its 39th year.

Hundreds of artists from across the United States will present their work on Saturday and Sunday. Event Co-Chair Susan Daniel highlighted the festival's accessibility and diversity.

"This is all free," Daniel said. "So come bring your family, bring your friends, look at art, maybe this isn't part of your everyday life or maybe this is something you're doing just to fill some time but it doesn't matter you're around the art, you see the art and it touches you, whether you know it or not."

The festival showcases art handpicked by a jury, including pieces from children and incarcerated individuals. Daniel emphasized the festival's role in supporting art education.

"Our volunteers bring art to the students throughout the semester and this is all made possible by the money raised at Arts Alive," said Daniel.

For artists, the festival is a chance to connect with the community beyond just showcasing their work. "It's an opportunity for them to… the ones in the park…to show what they've got," Daniel said. "People can come around and browse and buy and see and touch and feel and it brings the people into the artist's world where they can get to know it in a non-intimidating environment."
