Following Friday morning's press conference regarding the Steve Perkins case, WAAY 31 learned Decatur City Hall would be closed the rest of the day.

Mayor Tab Bowling says he made the decision after learning Thursday the DA would have a press conference scheduled Friday.

"Not knowing what the District Attorney would share, I felt it best to let our non-essential employees work from home at 10 a.m. Friday," said Bowling. "All departmental phones are forwarded to managers, and in some cases city employees are continuing to work remotely."

Steve Perkins was a Decatur man shot and killed in his front yard back in September. During a press conference Friday morning, it was announced one of the officers involved in the shooting, Mac Bailey Marquette, was charged with murder.Ìý
