Steve Perkins' family attorneys file lawsuit naming police officers involved in deadly shooting

An attorney for the family of Steve Perkins held a press conference Tuesday to announce the filing of a federal civil rights lawsuit against the city of Decatur. Steve Perkins was killed in front of his home on Sept. 29 in an officer-involved shooting.

In the lawsuit, several defendants are named. 

Four police officers are listed among the defendants. The lawsuit clarifies that defendants Bailey Marquette, Christopher Mukadam, Joey Williams, and Vance Summers are Decatur police officers.

The other defendants in the lawsuit are the city of Decatur, Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Allstar Recovery, Caleb Combs, and Richie Brady.

Attorneys for the family hope to bring attention to this crucial matter and advocate for justice, transparency, and accountability.

Attorney Lee Merritt shared they filed the lawsuit Tuesday morning.
