A death investigation is underway after a man was found dead on the shore of the Tennessee River in Colbert County.
According to Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency Director Brad Holmes, Lauderdale County 911 received a call about 3:55 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Holmes says some family members reported their loved one had gone fishing earlier that morning and had failed to return home. They also said they had located his truck and boat trailer at a local boat ramp in the Waterloo community of western Lauderdale County.
In response to the call, officials from the EMA office and Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office went to the area.
At the same time, some family members were in contact with some fellow boaters that were on the water. Holmes says those boaters located the missing individual's boat as well as his body on a shoreline near the Colbert County side of the Tennessee River.
Colbert County was contacted, their coroner responded, and officials with Colbert County received the man's body and the boat.
At this time, authorities have not released the man's identity.Â
WAAY 31 will provide updates as we receive them.Â
