A Decatur man is facing drug-related charges after police say he was found passed out behind the wheel of his truck, which was still in drive.
According to the Hartselle Police Department, 49-year-old Todd Nathaniel Morgan was charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
The arrest followed a call for a welfare check at 501 NW Highway 31 on Sunday.
When officers arrived, they discovered Morgan unconscious in his truck.
Officers secured the vehicle by shifting it into park. They then woke Morgan up.
When questioned, police say Morgan confirmed he had no medical conditions.
However, an officer observed signs of impairment, prompting further investigation.
A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle revealed illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia, police say.
Morgan was arrested at the scene and transported to the Morgan County Jail. His bond was set at $2,000.
