Decatur Police charge man with leaving scene after child hit by vehicle

The Decatur Police Department has charged a man linked to a child being hit by a vehicle Saturday night.

Dennis Mitchell surrendered Monday and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury.

Mitchell was booked in the Morgan County Jail and bond was set at $2,500, police said.

It happened about 7:20 p.m. Saturday in the area of Glenn Street and O'Malley Avenue.

Police said the driver of the vehicle left the scene. The child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
