Demonstrators met at Decatur City Hall Wednesday to express their disgust with what they saw in a leaked video of the shooting death of Steve Perkins.

They said they’re glad the video was leaked, but now they have more questions than answers.

Rodney Gordon, the NAACP Chapter President for Morgan County, said seeing that leaked video was disturbing.

“We are reviving the protest. It’s not over. It means justice has not been served. Society has to become compassionate for somebody,†said Gordon.

Protesters marched up 6th Avenue more fired up than ever after seeing the leaked video. They feel that Perkins wasn’t given enough time to comply with police commands. Gordon said he had more questions.

He wants to know where is the body cam video leading up to police arriving at Perkins' home.

He also wants to know why hasn't Mayor Tab Bowling and Police Chief Todd Pinion released statements following the leak.

“Cowards. A coward dies a thousand deaths. They’re running. They done tucked their tails. The dogs wagged his tail and he gone,†said Gordon.

Protester and Perkins family friend Danny Saafiyah said he saw the leaked tape and thinks Decatur Police are lying about the details in this case.

“I think we all saw Steve Perkins come out of his house and not know anyone was there. They say they saw a gun. I didn’t see one there. They say they saw a gun. The only gun I saw was a steel picture that was laying on the ground,†said Saafiyah.

WAAY 31 reached out to Bowling for comments regarding the leaked video.

He texted us saying, “Please submit your inquiries to ALEA.â€
