The Â鶹´«Ã½ Police Department honored a fallen officer killed in the line of duty 17 years ago.

Â鶹´«Ã½ Police Officer Eric Freeman was killed after investigating a wreck on Bailey Cove Road on Dec. 14, 2007. Police say that when Freeman arrived at the scene, they located a man sitting on the curb, approached the man and attempted to arrest him for driving under the influence. Freeman was taken to the local hospital where he later died from his injuries the following morning.
