A Hartselle man was arrested after police say he led them on a high-speed chase,Ìýreaching speeds of more than 120 miles per hour,Ìýon Interstate 65 South late Tuesday night.
According to the Priceville Police Department, officers were stationed in the median near mile marker 335 when they observed a speeding white Honda Civic about 11 p.m.
Police say the driver, identified as 23-year-old Kaleb Dewayne Winfrey Wood, was seen nearly striking another vehicle in the second lane before accelerating further.
The chase continued as police activated their emergency lights, but the vehicle did not stop. Instead, police say it exited the highway at the 334 off-ramp, once again almost colliding with another vehicle in the process.
The pursuit came to an end when Wood surrendered in a parking lot at on Highway 67.
Officers took him into custody and charged him with felony attempting to elude law enforcement, reckless endangerment, and several other traffic violations.
Felony attempting to elude is a Class B felony when a suspect exceeds the posted speed limit by more than 20 miles per hour.Â
Jail records show Wood was released Wednesday on bond.
