People from all over North Alabama came together to march, one week after Steve Perkins was killed by Decatur police.
The march started with a call to action from the Perkins family spokesperson.
Hundreds of people protested and marched through Decatur demanding justice for Steve Perkins.
Those protesting with the same thing top of mind: answers and accountability for the deadly police shooting of Steve Perkins.
William Stewart said, “His family is hurting, we are hurting, we need some justice, we need answers now. Somebody knows something. If I had done something, they would have arrested me. Why hasn’t there been an arrest made? We need justice for Steve.â€
Craig Johnson said, “This has always been my community, this is not a racial thing. They attacked our community, that's how we feel. I come out and I’m disappointed because I go over to our county courthouse and I see about 40 sheriff's deputies from all over the place; standing down on the second floor, looking down at the people. And that bothers me and I told them y'all would do a lot better if you would stand with the people instead of over them.â€
Still the main topic of conversation in the community is the Ring camera footage of the deadly shooting circulating on social media.
Those who came out to protest say they will keep coming back and protesting until there are answers for the death of Perkins.
