Â鶹´«Ã½ Animal Services is asking for the public’s help clearing the shelter after they had to take in more pets than usual over the summer.
In an “Elect to Adopt†campaign they are running during the month of August, Â鶹´«Ã½ Animal Services is waiving adoption fees on most adult pets to help reduce the number of animals in the shelter and to find them good homes.
Mayor Tommy Battle kicked off this campaign Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the shelter.Â
Interim Animal Services Director Virgie Graham is asking residents to “elect to adopt, not shop, and give loving homes to these great animals.â€
The city of Â鶹´«Ã½ says this campaign is part of a larger nationwide “Clear the Shelters†initiative, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
