WAAY 31 is North Alabama's home for sports coverage

Lipscomb head coach Lennie Acuff has been hired as Bucky McMillan's replacement at Samford, the school announced on Wednesday.

The Â鶹´«Ã½ native and longtime UAH head coach took Lipscomb to the NCAA Tournament and was named the ASUN Coach of the Year during the 2024-25 season.

Under Acuff, the Bisons went 25-10 this year -- winning the ASUN regular season and tournament titles.

In his last three seasons in Nashville, Lipscomb finished with at least 20 wins every year.

Acuff takes over a Bulldogs team that went 22-11 and reached the NIT in 2025.
