Three Â鶹´«Ã½ police officers were honored with a Lifesaving Medal after they helped save a shooting victim.

The officers rendered aid to a shooting victim on Highway 53 back in July. According to the Â鶹´«Ã½ Police Department, Officers Dominique Blue, Kevin Chandler, and Wyatt Wilburn encountered a chaotic crowd near a store and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds bleeding profusely.

Police say Chandler and Wilburn applied a tourniquet to one of the victim's arms to stop the bleeding while Blue kept the victim alert and discovered another gunshot wound and applied another tourniquet.

The officers treated the wounds until emergency workers with HEMSI arrived and were able to take the victim to Â鶹´«Ã½ Hospital for treatment.

Police say a HEMSI supervisor credited the officers' swift actions for saving the victim's life.
