A man is accused of trafficking cocaine after investigators searched a residence in Sheffield, according to the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office.
On Friday morning, agents with the Colbert County Drug Task Force, along with Colbert County Sheriff's Office investigators and Sheffield Police Department investigators, executed a search warrant at 804 SE 16th Street.
The sheriff’s office says agents made entry into the residence and Clarence Edward Jones III ran from them, into the bathroom.
Jones was then placed under arrest and searched.
During a search of the residence, agents found sums of U.S. currency, totaling $18,964, in different locations.
The sheriff’s office says a small plastic baggie, containing cocaine, was located outside in a storage building. Deputies say there was also a glass jar containing three bags of cocaine that was located in a plastic cup outside.
A small amount of marijuana was located on the table in the living room as well.
The sheriff’s office says all narcotic evidence and U.S. currency was collected for evidence. All narcotic evidence will be forwarded to Forensics for analysis.
Deputies say the cocaine was field tested and tested positive for the presence of cocaine.
The Colbert County Drug Task Force then requested a warrant for Jones, charging him with trafficking in illegal drugs (cocaine).
