A man faces arson charges after he allegedly tried to set fire to a Â鶹´«Ã½ home late Wednesday night.

Cory Dewayne Horton, 54, was taken into custody after an investigation into a fire outside a home on Yukon Drive revealed it was set intentionally.

Officers responded to the scene just before midnight to help the Â鶹´«Ã½ Fire Department with an investigation into the fire. Investigators say evidence showed the fire started outside a bedroom window while the resident was inside. Â鶹´«Ã½ Police say the fire was put out before it could spread to the home and caused only minor damage to the exterior.

The resident told police that Horton, her boyfriend, had argued with her earlier and returned to the house to gather his belongings. Shortly after he left, the fire was discovered.

Horton was found walking nearby during the investigation. Based on evidence found at the scene, Horton was arrested for arson and booked into the Madison County Jail.
