Authorities in Madison County charged a man on Wednesday for indecent exposure after multiple incidents of exposing himself.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office says between May and Dec. of 2023 they launched a criminal investigation after reports a man was behaving unusually in neighborhoods in the county, particularly in the area of Mt. Lebanon Road and Cedar Lake Road in the Toney community.Â
On Dec. 9, deputies responded to a home in the Meridianville community to a report about indecent exposure. According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, the victim said the offender exposed and touched himself in view of the public roadway and that this was witnessed by both the victim and the responding deputy. Deputies tried to make contact with the suspect but were unable to.
On Jan. 29, deputies say the same offender committed another act of indecent exposure in view of the roadway and was witnessed by a neighbor. Deputies were able to arrest the suspect and charged him with Obstructing Governmental Operations. During the investigation, deputies say they discovered the offender was responsible for the previous incidents.
On Feb. 4, Federick Deandre Benjamin, 35, turned himself in To the Madison County Sheriff's Office Detention facility where he was charged with two counts of indecent exposure. His bond was set at $5,000.
