One flown to hospital after 18-wheeler carrying chickens crashes into mail carrier in Morgan County

One person was flown to the hospital after a crash involving a mail carrier's vehicle and an 18-wheeler carrying live chickens, according to the Mud Tavern Volunteer Fire & Rescue.

It happened on Kirby Bridge Road, between Mud Tavern and Neel School, in Morgan County. 

The fire department received the call about 10:09 a.m. Friday, and crews are still working to clear the roadway.

The mail carrier was flown to Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Hospital and is in serious but stable condition, according to the fire department.

The Decatur Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
