Future radar late Sunday night

** 31 ALERT DAY SUNDAY OVERNIGHT, INTO MONDAY MORNING**

A round of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to move across north Alabama late Sunday night into early Monday morning. All severe hazards are possible including damaging wind, large hail and a few tornadoes. Another threat of severe weather may materialize toward the middle of next week as well.

For the rest of today, we'll be cloudy and mild with a few showers at times. No severe weather is expected. Highs will be in the low 70s.

Some showers will continue overnight. Lows will be in the low 60s.

Sunday will start with some showers and a few thunderstorms in the morning. We'll likely get a break in any rain for the afternoon hours. Temperatures will heat into the upper 70s.

Severe weather is likely to develop west of the Mississippi River Sunday evening across parts of the Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri. It will take a while for that activity to reach north Alabama with an after midnight arrival looking probable.

For NW Alabama expect to see storms as early as 1am and lasting through as late as 4am. For the Â鶹´«Ã½/Athens/Decatur area expect storms sometime between 2am and 6am. And for Sand Mountain between 3am and 8 am.

It's very important that you have a way to get weather alerts in the middle of the night. Make sure to download the WAAY 31 Stormtracker Â鶹´«Ã½ app and set it up to alert you. Be sure to keep your phone on audible so that you will hear it go off for any warnings. A NOAA Â鶹´«Ã½ Radio is also a good way to get weather alerts.
