Overnight storms

**TONIGHT IS A 31 ALERT DAY**

Most of the day today will feature cloudy and windy conditions. South winds around 15-20 mph could gust above 30 mph at times. A few showers are possible, mainly across NW Alabama. Temperatures will warm into the mid 60s this afternoon.

A round of strong to severe storms is expected to move across north Alabama and southern Tennessee later this evening and into the overnight hours.

Saturday night storm timing:

Earliest arrival in the Shoals: 9PM Saturday

Earliest arrival Â鶹´«Ã½ Metro: 11PM Saturday

Earliest arrival in Sand Mountain: 12AM Sunday

The greatest threats are damaging winds, heavy rain that could increase the flooding threat, as well as a chance for isolated tornadoes. This will all be out of here by the time you start off Sunday morning. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive any weather alerts that are issued tonight.

Much colder weather is in store next week with morning lows in the teens and 20s with high temperatures in the 30s and 40s each day. We will keep an eye on the middle of next week for the chance of wintry precipitation. Check back for details on that once we get through the 31 Alert Day Saturday.

TODAY: Cloudy skies with a shower possible. Windy and mild. Highs in the mid 60s. Wind: S 10-20, gusts 30+

TONIGHT: Storms likely. Some could be severe. Lows in the upper 40s. Wind: SE 10-15 mph, gusts 25 mph.
