Theresa Wilson-Todd is the executive director at the Rose of Sharon. She says she absolutely loves what she does, helping people who need it the most.
The Rose of Sharon is a soup kitchen that's been in Â鶹´«Ã½ for more than 20 years. They say they serve love and meals, serving more than 300 meals a day. The Rose of Sharon also offers canned items and dry goods to give to people, along with bringing in shower vans for people to shower.
Wilson-Todd says every minute of serving the community is incredible as seeing people get back on their feet is worth everything.
Wilson-Todd said, “The food is great, we use the food to bring people in but we have a family feel here. Nobody goes through a line, it’s dining with dignity, we want people to feel like they matter here. And if you walk through life with people side by side and love them and care for them and meet their needs, they’re more likely to do things that better their lives.â€
Connie Allen is a volunteer at the Rose of Sharon and says Wilson-Todd has made a huge impact on her life.
Allen said, “Theresa helps me because she loves everybody. I’m going through a bad part of my marriage right now and it’s good to come down here and get relief and have somebody that loves you.â€
Everyone we spoke to at the Rose of Sharon said Wilson-Todd has made a positive impact on their lives.
