Arab and Guntersville have been playing each other in football since 1922.Ìý

“They love to beat us," Arab head coach Kyle Routon said. "We love to beat them, so it’ll be a fun time on Friday night.â€Ìý

Since taking over as the Wildcats' head coach, Lance Reese has gone 11-3 against the Knights. Guntersville enters this matchup ranked first in 5A, but 3-1 Arab won't be intimidated after beating them the last two times.Ìý

"We came in, played a really tough game, had a good game plan, were able to come away with the win," Routon said of last year's win. "They’re ranked number one for a reason but there’s a reason you don’t play it on paper. You play it on Friday night.â€

The Wildcats offense aims to spread opponents out, while the Knights try to beat teams with an old school ground attack.Ìý

“You don’t want to play catch up to Arab, because they’re so physical," Reese said. "If they’ve got the lead and the ball, you’re going to have a hard time. So, we need to make sure we’re playing our best football and we feel like when we do that, we’ve got a chance.â€

While the Knights are known for their ground attack, Guntersville also churns out yards with their running backs. Enelson Delva is committed to Army and Julyon Jordan is pledged to South Alabama. They form one of the most dangerous backfields in the state.Ìý

"Lucky for us, only one of them can carry the ball at a time," Routon said. "You don't know who's going to get it and they're both dangerous whenever they do."Ìý

But the Knights have star power too, with quarterback Drew Puccio coming off a 347-yard performance against Brewer.
