A Florence man faces several charges after deputies say he led them on a chase and rammed one of their vehicles on Wednesday.

Lauderdale County deputies say William Larry Irons, 52, of Florence, refused to stop after they tried to attempt a routine traffic stop in the area of County Road 14 and 81. Deputies say during the pursuit, Irons left the roadway at times and drove into a wooded area.

Once off-road, deputies say Irons reversed his vehicle and rammed into a deputy's patrol car. After a brief foot chase, deputies say a taser was deployed and Irons was taken into custody. According to deputies, a firearm and narcotics were found inside the vehicle.

Irons faces several charges including trafficking meth, felony eluded, assault, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief, drug paraphernalia, and persons forbidden to possess firearm.

Bond for Irons is set at $63,200.
