How soon is too soon when it comes to giving kids a phone? A new study, by , revealed Alabama parents give their children their first phone earlier than most other states. Parents in Alabama give their children smartphones 10th earliest in life with the average child getting theirs by age 10.

Louisiana, Florida and Virginia topped the list with kids getting smart phones at 9.

According to the study Alabama parents wish they waited an additional 4 years-until age 14. Nationally, 1 in 5 parents wish they had given their child a smartphone later than they had.
