The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is urging extreme caution as wet roadways refreeze into the night with dropping temperatures. They urging drivers to be mindful of black ice amid dangerous driving conditions.

They say black ice is difficult to see and causes roadways to become extremely slippery, especially on bridges and overpasses. Avoid hard braking. Don't slam on brakes, as this can cause you to skid.

ALDOT treated State and Federal roadways but ALEA says county and rural roads are still impassable. You can find the latest road conditions HERE.

If you have to be out, ALEA says to buckle up, don't use your cruise control and leave a safe distance between vehicles.
