On Saturday, the Limestone County Sheriff's Office provided an update following a recent dog attack that happened in Elkmont.

The sheriff's office says the incident happened on Holt Road in Elkmont on Wednesday. Investigators believe the dog owner was taking the dogs for an evening walk in a field behind the owner's property when the dogs unexpectedly ran after a jogger on a roadway nearby.

The sheriff's office says they cannot provide details on the victim's condition at this time. They say the dogs involved in the incident were initially taken into custody but have since been euthanized.

According to the Limestone County Sheriff's Office, a veterinarian listed the dogs as a Mastiff breed but that the owner identified them as Bully XLs. Early investigations show no prior history of aggression from the dogs.

The sheriff's office says the circumstances surrounding the attack are still under investigation.
