Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Police say deadly downtown shooting believed to be accidental

One person was critically injured in a shooting that happened in downtown Âé¶¹´«Ã½ on Monday.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Police say a deadly shooting that happened Monday afternoon in the downtown area is believed to be accidental.

The shooting happened just after 12:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Jefferson Street.

Police say they responded to the scene to find a man in a red sedan in the rear parking suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries.

Three other people were inside the vehicle at the time of the incident including a woman and two children.

According to investigators with the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Police Major Crimes Unit, based on interviews and evidence collected at scene, including the gun that was recovered from the incident, the shooting is believed to be accidental.

No charges have been filed at this time. Police say the shooting remains under investigation.
